So ... The Great Pottery
Throwdown has had three series now, and
millions of viewers have been tuned in. A new series starts on
Sunday, 2nd January and you can also download
all previous episodes from All4.
No doubt they will be
looking for contestants for the next series and you might like
to take part!
Highfield Ceramics covers all the techniques that
are required by the participants, so you can learn everything
you need and practice how to do it too. Lessons are given at our
modern ceramics studio
on the edge of Tiverton, Devon, by a
fully qualified and professional ceramics teacher.

Adults and children (over
the age of six) are taught by a fully qualified teacher, covering
all aspects of clay work, including wheel work. Earthenware &
stoneware, clay and glazes, are used and fired in an electric kiln.
The studio is light and airy,
with space to work outside as well, which enables students to do
such things as smoke firings, if the weather allows it.
Classes are of mixed
ability - from beginner to advanced.

Also we offer the
opportunity for children who wish to do their Duke of Edinburgh
award can do pottery for their skills section (see the Children page
for details).
All clay, glazes, use of
tools and firings are included in the cost of the lessons, which are
held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays divided by age. You only
need to bring your own apron or an old shirt.
Highfield Ceramics
regularly hold exhibitions of students' work, either at the studio, or
at various venues in Tiverton.
